Zero-Residue Farming

This new model of cultivation is a third way between conventional agriculture and biological agriculture, in which the consumer is guaranteed to eat a healthy product, containing no pesticides.

Pesticides are phytosanitary products used to protect crops against numerous threatening organisms: fungi, insects, weeds. In zero-residue farming emphasis is put on the prevention of pests using robust strategies and planning inspired by organic agriculture: prophylactic measures, stimulation of plant defenses, use of biological agents, etc. However, when absolutely necessary, low impact chemical products are still allowed to protect the crops, in contrast to biological production where they are not permitted.

In this system, the farmer is required to use phytosanitary products in a highly restricted way to guarantee they won’t be found in the fruit at the end of the production processes.
